Mit der Seelisberg Conference 1947 the Christian-Jewish dialogue began, focusing on overcoming antisemitism. This conference also laid the groundwork for a theological reorientation of Christian churches. However, this did not overcome anti-Judaism within the church or society. Another decisive milestone was 1965 with the declaration of the Second Vatican Council On the Church's attitude towards non-Christian religions"Nostra aetate", and thus or above all with Judaism. The dialogue has been intensified and institutionalised. The "International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations" (IJCIC) faces the "Commission for Religious Relations with Judaism".". On a national level, the Coordinating Committee for Christian-Jewish Cooperation founded, which is divided into local Christian-Jewish committees. One such committee exists in Innsbruck.

Since 7 October and the subsequent Gaza war, resurgent antisemitism and, above all, criticism of Israel's actions in Gaza have increasingly been the focus of Christian-Jewish dialogue. Several public statements from the Church have been perceived by the Jewish side as one-sided and unbalanced and have been rejected. This topic has therefore been taken up by the local Christian-Jewish committee.

Univ.Prof.em.Dr. Roman Siebenrock, Vorsitzender des christlich-jüdischen Komitees,
Superintendent der Evangelischen Kirche von Salzburg und Tirol.
