Hanukkah is a post-biblical festival that is only sparsely dealt with in rabbinical writings. You might therefore think that it is less important than Passover or Yom Kippur, for example. In religious terms, this is also true. And yet, this festival is very popular and has become particularly popular after the national rebirth has become increasingly important in Erez Israel. The Festival of Lights is particularly popular with children and provides an opportunity to focus on the freedom of the Jewish people.
Beyond the well-known legends that we remember and beyond the popular dishes that are prepared with great pleasure, there are a number of aspects that are perhaps less well known. Our speaker and prayer leader Schlomo Rottman will tell us about it and we will prepare together for Hanukkah, which is celebrated in the community on 1 Tevet (21 December), the day of the last candle.
If you are unable to attend at the time of the event, please cancel in good time to office@ikg-innsbruck.at or Tel. +43 512 586892. Thank you very much!
