An evening with David and Paul Gulda

„My child, I beg you to take good care of these things for you and your sons, my dear grandchildren. If one day they want to know where they come from, may the objects show them the way to the Loew family's past, which I no longer have the strength to record.“ „Loew“ is a fascinating weave of world history and personal family biography. David Gulda takes readers through two centuries and through half of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Monarchy, via Italy to South America and back. With the help of carefully researched facts and fictional elements, he unfolds the story of a Jewish family caught between religious tradition, bourgeois secularisation and the political upheavals from the beginning of the 19th to the end of the 20th century. Accompanied on the piano by his brother Paul Gulda, who also contributed the epilogue to this family epic, David Gulda presents his book in the Sulzer Saal in Hohenems.

David Gulda, born in Vienna in 1956, elder son of the actress Paula Loew and the pianist Friedrich Gulda, lawyer and philosopher, worked for many years in business both at home and abroad.

Paul Gulda, born in Vienna in 1961, the younger son of actress Paula Loew and pianist Friedrich Gulda, has been active as a pianist, musician, teacher and mentor in Austria and abroad since 1980.
